About Me

A snapshot of my journey - as every piece shapes the mosaic of life.

Hi there! Glad you're here on my personal website!

I'm Rachel, a backend-focused software engineer based in Aceh, Indonesia. My work sits where reliability matters most - systems people depend on throughout their working day, and that fail loudly when they're wrong.

Most of my time goes to an Electronic Medical Record system at RSUD Langsa, which I now lead. I joined as a junior developer and built the digital medical records module from scratch, digitising around 25 clinical and legal document types to replace a fully paper-based archive. A year later I was leading the project across 7 clinical units and 8+ developers.

That work taught me what backend engineering actually costs. I moved the codebase from ad-hoc queries to a structured service layer so patient data stays consistent across wards. I traced a production incident down to an unfiltered database trigger that was silently deleting patient records, then built the recovery tooling and documentation that brought the data back with zero permanent loss. I introduced automated testing to a codebase that had none - writing 13 of its 16 test files - and set the commit conventions the team still follows.

Right now I'm going deeper into Go. My day-to-day is Laravel and SQL Server, with Docker, Redis, and Linux servers underneath, but Go is where I want to build next - so I'm learning it properly rather than collecting another certificate. Alongside that I run NanoNusa Digital, a software studio I founded, where I still write most of the code myself.

When I'm not coding, you'll probably find me traveling to new places or playing badminton. These are my ways to unwind and recharge.

My dream? To inspire others, especially from Aceh, to embrace programming and technology as tools for transformation. Let's connect and create something amazing together!

Best Regards,
